USD Transfer 2019

Probably a problem with the portal or something they have when everything is in.
I turned in the final transcripts and then it disappeared.
just gotta keep waiting

app status is back

hey guys just was admitted friday evening, i stopped checking, so I just found out. They released my FA award today in case anyone was curious about packages. My EFC is 0, and they gave me the USD scholarship, along with pell grants and some in federal loans. Really everything is pretty much covered minus books & room and board and some other smaller fees in comparison to the actual tuition. I am a rising junior. I was pretty shocked with the FA package. Wish you guys luck! Let me know if anyone has any questions.

congrats @kmp818 ! I got my financial aid package today and im a bit hesitant in the amount I was awarded. Ive read from previous threads that the financial aid packages arent the greatest at USD. Im glad to hear your went well! Do you think I should appeal my financial aid package?

I got an email literally yesterday saying I got accecpted through a video. Does that mean I’m admitted?

@kmp818 Hey, how you received your FA package? And if it’s cool with you would you mind sharing your stats? Just curious, thanks!

@Cassidydeanda yes i think you should. It wouldn’t hurt to try. I was suprised with mine just because of all the things i have heard from other students.

I got an email saying my financial aid award had been updated , and there was missing documents. It was a couple days after i received my acceptance. Which i also got the video for. Once i signed on it showed the admitted tab as well. I am a non traditional student took some time off before going back to school. I am 24 , considered an independent student & coming from a community college in MA. I would be an uprising junior depending on the transfer of credit eval. I got the USD scholarship for 29k a yr, and around 10k in grants, they gave me a work study for 3600, even though i would be working full time too. & then there leaves about 10k in loans. Room and board wasn’t included in my award. That will be out of pocket.

2 Internships - MIT summer program , & A drug immunotherapy lab.

No clubs or any sports, I work about 50 hours a week overnights , so that’s where a bulk of my time goes , besides school. I was brought up catholic went to school on the weekends for it , but went to regular public school. I honestly dont think religion has an effect in the application process. As i am not a practicing catholic , i was just raised as one. Unfortunately i have to deny my acceptance and FA, as i have committed to a school back home… USD took too long to notify me , i was getting nervous! Best of luck guys!

Was admitted at 1:30am! Good luck to whoever is yet to hear lmk if you have any qsss!

for those attending USD this fall I have a question. What TLC courses did you choose on your transfer questionnaire? I was on rate my professor and alot of the professors had mixed reviews not sure what courses to put. Also since I am an incoming sophmore, with 44 units and 4 in progress do you think they would let me take a 300 level TLC course? It says students with 45 units or less cant take 300 level TLC courses. Thanks!

Pick a TLC course that also fills in for any core classes you may be missing, this way you get two things done at once. For example, I don’t have religious credit so I picked a religious TLC that satisfies the core. I’m just going to deal with whatever professor I end up with because I need the course. Under the “My Academics” tab in the portal check out your “Degree Audit,” it is helpful to look at to figure out what credits they like/ don’t like. Idk about the 300 level thing.

applied for cs transfer with 60+ units, all lower division classes complete, and a somewhat disappointing gpa.

Haven’t heard back from them yet, is it safe to assume its a no?

Honestly who knows

Has anyone heard back from USD about living on campus? I called and was told I would hear back the 26th at the latest but that’s not enough time to look for other housing if necessary.

I’m still waiting to find out if I’m in or not.
I’ve called three times and once got a “looks like your review is complete” with no context to what that means. It’s super frustrating to have the only communication being “keep checking your portal!”

Yes they told me the 26th for housing. As a transfer, I feel it’s very important to live on campus first year! They should prioritize us haha and not make us live off-campus, especially coming from across the country. @dogsss7 what are your top choices for housing?

quick q for those enrolled- do they want us to resend our high school transcripts, ib/ap scores, and college transcripts for course credit articulation? Or will they just look at our application submitted?

nevermind !

@ghs1701 My top choices were San Buen and Manchester Village. I never toured housing so it was pretty much a guess. I really hope we hear back today, move in day is a month away…

@ghs1701 @dogsss7 do you know if housing will be posted on the portal ? Or the housing portal? ? My top choices where also Manchester and San buen. I went on the tour for the dorms. Alcala is completely full with returning students . San buen was nice and Manchester was nice as well however they said space was limited.
