Using a movie analogy in the essay

I recently watched the Matrix sequels and felt a strong philosophical connection between the movie and the part of my life that I want to talk about in my essay. I started a draft, where I start with an analogy of Neo making the choice between the two pills and the choices I made, and incorporate bits of the extended analogy throughout the essay.
Is it too childish/cliche? I have another draft of the same topic but with a different form (I just emphasized on one specific scene to start the essay instead of the analogies).
(I didn’t put further details of the essay because I’ve seen posts about plagiarism in this forum and got scared a bit)

Only consider using that if u can be absolutely certain sure the analogy/essay can be readily understood by someone who is completely unfamiliar with The Matrix movies (while not using too much space on describing the movie).

I’ve never seen The Matrix.

Would your essay be as compelling to me? Or would you have to spend a chunk of your valuable 650 words explaining it to me?

@bjkmom I tried not to get too much of the movie directly, I pretended I didn’t know the movie and I think it makes sense because I link them together back to my story. Should I ask someone who hasn’t watched the movie to proofread it?

Absolutely.

How many of those precious 650 words are devoted to the movie?

@bjkmom Either 17 or 29, only 17 words are just about the movie. (the opening sentence). Others include references but it’s really indirect and the main subject of the sentence is my story not the movie.
