Hi guys,

I was thinking of using my optional supplementary Penn essay (submit page 217 of your 300-page autobiography) as my Harvard optional essay. Is that a good idea or would Harvard admission officers be able to tell that it's a Penn essay even if I modify it?

Thanks.

i dont think 13 different schools expect you to write multiple different essays per each school.

YEAH i was thinking about doing this exactly lol

i was also thinking about doing that but for my main columbia essay - would this be a bad idea?

do you have any other essays? The problem with Pen's prompt is that it's quite specific, and admissions officers know what questions are coming from other schools. If harvard is your first choice, it may not be a very good idea to use that essay because the admissions officers will immediately smell Pen in it. I would try and use and essay that is less topic specific. If harvard is not your first choice however, and you're happy with the essay, then go ahead, it should be fine. Good luck with all your applications!
