USMA vs USNA

I recently got back from the USNA summer seminar so I am brainwashed with "Go Navy! Beat Army!" I didn't get a chance to visit West Point, so I'd like to counterbalance my bias with some of your input on why USMA is a better school than usna (or a better career). Thanks

are we in third grade?

this is pretty retarded considering we are in a west point forum. What do you think people will say, Navy's better? It is impossible for someone to go either way without individual biases coming into play. Visit west point when you have time and make the decision for yourself.

.. i'm guessing you didn't score very well on your reading comprehension for the SAT - the question wasn't asking for an unbiased account; for all i care, be biased! I just want facts on why the army is better than the navy. For example, the Navy boasts about their academics because they put out 3 Rhodes Scholars. How are the West Point academics? Why are they better than Navy? etc etc. Seeing as how I live in California, going to West Point is a little more arduous than simply strolling on down to see if i like it.

Okay. Here's my opinion of why West Point is a great place. I'm not comparing it to USNA though. First of all, West Point is an institution that makes leaders out of the cadets. Everything that is done at West Point prepares the cadets for their time as officers in the Army. The academics at West Point are excellent as well. Here is the link to the scholarship page: http://www.dean.usma.edu/scholarships/ .

REMEMBER: When you graduate West Point, you receive a commision in the U.S. ARMY. So that should be the ultimate factor in deciding between USMA and USNA. If you want to be an Army officer, work hard to get into West Point. If you are set on being a Naval officer, go for Annapolis.

good point bpitt - it seems as if the whole rhodes scholarship boasting is somewhat meaningless considering the primary goal of the institution is to develop combat leaders...

It is on the website somewhere, but USMA also had 1 or 2 rhodes scholars...and does most years .... and --prob. like navy--a number of other prestigous award winners.....

while there seems to be some debate about --how much to emphasize the combat part of leaders.. it is there...............

my impression is that generally usma is a little more people oriented as opposed to technology at usafa and usna... but i think it is a subtle difference , not significant..

"people oriented"----read: LEADERSHIP

a significant difference.
