USMC Reservist.

Hello members!

This is my first time writing on this forum, so please excuse my informalities and etc. To begin, I would like to know if joining a military branch would increase my chances of getting in. I had joined the Marine Corps and shipped off to Boot Camp in August 1st 2016. While incoming freshman prepared for college, I was in recruit training. As I am finishing my job school, I have applied to Villanova University. I would just like some feedback, and if the chances of my admission acceptance increased. Thanks everyone!

I’d expect your military service could help your application stand out and be more interesting to the admissions committee. It would be one of many factors, of course, so assuming you have competitive high school grades and test scores you should have a good chance!

Is your goal to become an officer? If so, you should contact the Naval ROTC program at Villanova.

Good luck!

I have contacted the NROTC program for Villanova, but I am not guaranteed anything because of how competitive that scholarship is. But thank you for the information!
