He had his choice of warm or cold...one day of snow on the yard and he thought he needed to go skiing....this week was really cold on the yard and now he wonders why he wanted skiing!

Can't wait...we will have a blast!

My son is leaving tomorrow for Cancun with 7 of his friends from the Academy. It was his toughest week at the academy workwise he said but it will be worth it he says. I am a bit nervous but as my husband says he has a good head on his shoulders and he will have a great time. Let him enjoy himself. It is hard to be a mom at times.

Regarding the countdown to I-day...
We have a favorite saying in our house and I'm not sure where it is from:

Don't count the days....Make the days count!

Wickster, has he had his STD talk? Remember it's all about fluids. (This from a molecular/microbiologist.)

If you Go USNA that will change...you will be counting the days to everything!

Sealion, yes he had this talk on Wednesday night. That is great to know since he drinks on average 128 oz. of water a day. I will let him know he should make sure he continues to do so on break. Thanks for your reply.

From the day he left at Christmas to now...my son counted the days until today!!!!I remember counting days until he went I Day. I would have been better off just taking the time to enjoy him and also let him enjoy these easy stress-free times of high school.
On Spring Break,,I am just going to relax and be oh so thankful to have him home.

oregon mom--- enjoy every minute of it!!

thorpedo enroute.... ETA now 4 hours and counting!!! :)

Navy2010, squeeze him to pieces! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! Funny. I just waved to the Mids I have leaving the house to go to a movie. As the car pulled down the lane, I waved & said, "No problem boys! I've got the empty coke cans, the sweatshirt on my couch, the computer speakers on the chair, the wet shoes from the overturned canoe on the kitchen floor & the empty potato chip bag on the counter! No problemo! I've got it!" Do you think they heard me?

Have fun! ;)

Very bummed, very bummed, very bummed.

Just boy and I this weekend. Asked if I could take him to the movies, out to dinner, just something to spend time with him and talk to him. Nope; going to the movies with a friend on Saturday and Sunday. Nope; he didn't want to go out and eat tonight.

This is hurting.

Nurseypoo, this is pretty much par for the course. You want to hold tight and he wants to let go. Our family's pretty close, but we noticed that as senior year started drawing to a close, Boy started to withdraw a little bit He was never snarky or rude but he definitely was more interested in hanging with his buddies. This continued up until about the middle of second semester of his youngster year. Gradually we noticed that when he was home, he was eating dinner and spending a good part of the evening with us before he headed out with friends. This year we've actually had him come home for a weekend and just be with us. That must what growing up is all about. Don't be hurt or sad, this is a kind of defense mechanism to make it easier to leave when the time comes.

I believe we are now at 108 days.

Lola is so over her mommy right now :)
But she is having so much fun at school and knows it is just a matter of weeks til the big adventure begins.

^^^^So over her mommy right now? I'm not understanding. Is she pulling away, too? Basically, the only time Nick talks to me is about when we're out of certain groceries. :(

Yah, Spider got home yesterday afternoon and disappeared into the gf void immediately. His little sis is crushed. I'm resigned.

Trust me, it does get better! As a 2/C, our Mid is doing a much better job of dividing his time between family and friends. I think maturity has kicked in, he doesn't need to prove to us that he's independent anymore.

I'm getting more and more unhappy reading these events! Not that it can be helped, but gee! :(

Spidermom.. Have you guys heard anything yet??

Nurseypoo.. I think miss Lola is just enjoying her days at University the most she can until the end of yr May 13th. Right now class, boys, Spring Break, and Spring Fever are first on her mind. (but not necessarily in that order). I cant say I blame her a bit. Just hoping she doesnt come back from Vaca with another Tatt! HA!! ONLY KIDDING! :)

And it is now 106 days I believe!

Everybody made their reservations for Annapolis yet??

No news yet. Captain Wallace of the FOundation says the Navy preps will hear April 12th-ish. Long wait. No Spring break for Spider, but he's 24-7 with the gf. I might need to rename myself tomcatmom. :(

The solution is PS3. It works like a charm for keeping him at home......Keep those games and snacks coming, Mom. Other mids are coming over today to play too....
