no one has made mention to indiana's kelley business school. they offer a special investment banking program and it seems as though almost everyone in that program receive ibanking job offers. do students not in the special ibanking program also receive ibanking job offers? i am currently a freshman at bentley college and am considering trasnsferring because the people seem too stupid and i dont think bentley will help me out whatsoever when it comes to my interest in ibanking. any other schools i should look that are on basically the same level as nyu?

They're looking for smart, capable people, not business majors.

HYPSM, Caltech and Wharton are the fastest way to get recruited.

Is UT Austin-Mccombs very renowned..? I've heard that it is ranked 5th or 6th in the nation along with kenan-flager at Chapel hill? How are these two business schools for undergraduate?

Both are very good.

pretty good. I'd pick either Ross or McIntire over McCombs and Kenan-Flagler though, from the recruiting perspective. I'd even pick USC Mashall over McCombs and UNC..................or would I?

really.. marshall over mccombs and kenan-flager?

And what is better, mccombs or kenan-flager?

McCombs is a better B-school than Marshall but I think the poster is saying they would pick Marshall because USC is ranked higher overall and the Trojan/SCali network is "strong."

Can you do a double in finance (or some other major at Stern) and political science or IR (or some other major in CAS) enrolled at Stern or CAS?

what about kenan-flager as opposed to mccombs.. how is kenan-flager really, did anyone on the thread apply there or plan on applying there?

alright. Here's the truth:

UNC's undergrad biz program is ranked very high. However, if you check what campuses prestigious financial institutions ACTIVELY recruits on, you won't see UNC on many lists. Same thing for UTexas. Schools like Northwestern University will be more recruited than UNC and UTexas, because of the general prestige. Ibanks are looking for brilliant people, and are going to TRAIN them. one of my friends who go to Princeton and majored in Art History got an offer from Morgan Stanley. Overall, you just have to smart, for a career on the Wall Street. Nevertheless, UNC and UTexas both have excellent business programs if you are interested in business majors. A school's general prestige and current presentation on the Wall Street determine how heavily banks are gonna recruit there. Ibanks don't care about the undergrad business ranking too much, if they see a georgetown kid making money for them, they'll go recruit more georgetown kids.

Yep training is like 6 weeks before joining for the interview you should only know basic terms in banking and should also be aware of current events and figures.

I dont know why everyone is so concerned about going to a top program. Sure it is nice, i would love to go becuase of the security knowing i am first pick after graduation. But performance is what drives business, if you perform, you will be noticed and you will get where you want to go. You may not get the best job outa college, but it is the long term that matters.

How much of a difference in recruiting, career services, prestige etc. between NYU/Stern and Georgetown/(whatever the undergrad business school's name is) and UVA/McIntire and Michigan/Ross?

Does georgetown have an undergraduate business school?

I might have read somewhere on this thread that it does.

McIntire, Ross and Stern are all excellent. McDonough (Georgetown's BBA program) is not as good, BUT, Georgetown is such a cache name that it somehow manages to attract many top recruiters, especially IBanks and MCs. So if one had a choice between those four fantastic programs, I'd recommend the decision be based on fit.

Any way I can get those rankings for free someplace?

Well, you can go to any major bookstore and see a copy there for free. They only cost like $10 to buy at the news stand.

USNW Business Rankings for the schools above are:

Haas/Berkeley 3 (tie with Michigan)
Ross/Michigan 3 (tie with Berkeley)
Stern/NYU 5 (tie with Carnegie Mellon, NC, and Texas)
Georgetown 26 (tie with Arizona State, Babson, and Florida)

Is AZ State that good? I never heard about AZ state business rivaling that of Georgetown. How heavily recruited is it?
