UT Austin 2014 prompt

Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals.

This is the required prompt for UT Austin through Apply Texas, and I am honestly stuck on how to answer this. Is the prompt asking for me to elaborate and narrate about one activity that has really inspired me to achieve my goals? Or is it asking me to talk about every activity that I have done? It seems that if I answer in the sense of talking about all my activities and how it will help me achieve my goals, I am just reiterating my essay. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

I mean, reiterating my “resume” not “essay,” sorry.

This is what you need to do. First, come up with a life goal that is relevant to all of your HS EC’s. Be creative in your intro and write your life goal somewhere in it. Then write 1-2 body paragraphs talking about how your HS EC’s will help you accomplish your goal. Pick the most significant, don’t put “20 hours of walking my neighbors dog”. Then, talk about why UT Austin will help you accomplish your goals. It’s a really easy essay topic, but it’s also really boring and I scold UT admissions for picking such a monotonous topic that doesn’t lend itself to much creativity.

Its not UT specifically, its ApplyTexas. This is question #3 and is required by some schools, UNT is another that uses this question, and is used by otherr schools for scholarship consideration.
