UT Business Honors Program class of 2022

@sh12 rank is top 2% in a large public school. I do have a very low sat score compared to the other bhp applicants but i have very unique and stellar ECs so i think that’s why i was offered an interview.

Are they just running slow this year? I had my interview mid-November and applied mid-October and still haven’t heard back even though the school has already given me a decision.

My son had his interview in October. Still waiting to hear from BHP and McCombs too. He’s auto admit top 3%. I would have expected to hear from McCombs by now.

Son got his McCombs admit Dec 15. Still waiting on BHP but super glad to be in McCombs. He acceptedUT and declined all other schools.

Looking at previous years calls might go out today. good luck to al!

@Mills6 What do you mean by calls?

Does anyone know the timeline for the next interview requests, if there will be any? At what date should I essentially know that I won’t get an interview? I’ve heard the last date for interview requests is Feb 1.

@findingmyfuture BHP typically calls students to notify them of their acceptance.

@findingmyfuture I am sorry but I don’t know when last calls for interviews go out. You can probably go search old threads. I know my daughter had a friend who interviewed Friday. BHP calls if you are accepted into program and last year people reported getting the acceptance call on the last Monday in January although that was the 30th so maybe tomorrow? The ones who got accepted in December were called Monday and Tuesday mid December. I personally think the tiny wave Friday was honors driven just like the tiny wave in early December was honors driven. Literally everyone who reported getting in in that tiny wave in early December got into an honors program.

Thank you so much! @jshep29 @Mills6 At this point, I’ve pretty much given up on receiving an email for a BHP interview. But there’s a tiny part of me who’s still waiting haha. It seems like BHP has already accepted alot of people

Yep we know someone who got a call. Pretty sad because she has absolutely no interest in going. Not very nice is it?

@Mills6 Did she get the call today or in the previous round of acceptances?

D received a call today. She was accepted into McCombs in November.

does anyone know if you have to be accepted into McCombs before you get accepted into BHP? Even if you have had an interview

@gotmilk0600 Yes you must be admitted to McCombs first

No,@Mills6 that is NOT very nice at all. The college admissions process is grueling and you take offense that a CHILD is searching for options? What kind of a parent are you? What are you teaching your child? To judge others and to be jealous of others’ accomplishments, Way to go mom.

a student has less than 10% chance of getting into an Ivy and that is with perfect grades, perfect scores. Maybe at the last hour a student began doing some research on other options and discovered how amazing the UT honors program is. So in your mind they should not get the opportunity because they didnt decide to go to UT sophomore year. Jealousy is a sad way to live your life. Be happy for others.

By the way, my child received the phone call yesterday with the UT business honors offer. UT is a great option and we are thrilled.

@neonrays - Wow-you assumed a lot about @Mills6 in your post! Let’s all be kind here! Business Honors is a very competitive program and it is hard to see students apply to UT as a safety when they have no interest in the school-which is what I think @Mills6 was implying. You don’t need to ‘attack’ the way you did, we are all here to support each other!

Congrats to your child on their acceptance!

see it is a place to support each other, as long as it is not a safety school… She is the one who asked if it is nice? I apologize if it seemed harsh. But her response is NOT SUPPORTIVE at all. She is the one judging a CHILDS ability to apply to where they choose. Safety or not.

Unfortunately the college admissions process is stacked against students and it leaves applicants with no choice but to hedge their bets and cast a wide net. From my own children’s experiences (currently in BHP), they weren’t really sold on BHP vs. their other acceptances until they each attended the Discover BHP day in March. It was there that they realized independently what a unique opportunity it was for them to attain their own personal goals. Thank goodness they applied to UT when really neither had an initial inclination in attending UT Austin. The frustration lies in the process and not the students trying to survive it!

@neonrays congratulations to your child! That is great. The process is grueling and it is a wonderful program!

I am sorry you saw it that way. I can understand that; I probably shouldn’t have posted it. However, you really don’t know the story…she really did just apply because she is super competitive. She is from a tiny school and it is quite likely that her application will keep others who care from getting into UT. My daughter deliberately didn’t apply to a few schools she could have gotten into because she thinks she saw that happen to a couple of girls last year. We both would have been very supportive and thrilled for her if she wasn’t so dismissive of UT. It wasn’t a safety for her or anything. Truly just to show that she could get into their top program. She had already been assured that she was getting a full ride at the school of her choice in addition to the Ivy options. That is only part of the story.

My daughter did not get a call last night. Maybe tonight!

Also, I certainly understand having safeties and options. My daughter did too! They have worked really hard in high school to not end up with good choices! Applying without a school even being a consideration seems different though. It really doesn’t seem nice to me to take a spot from a kid who really wants it when you have no intention of going just to show that you can.
