UT of A&M for Med School

I am more inclined towards UT Austin but did not get the major I wanted and i want to go for Pre-med. At A&M, I can get the major I want. UT Austin is a better ranked school. What to do?

What major did you apply as and what majors were you offered?

It doesn’t matter too much where you go to undergrad for Med School. UTD is rapidly becoming the top Texas School for Medicine.

Get the major you want. You can always get to UT for actual Med School when the time comes. Keep your GPA up. That is crucial.

They have roughly the same acceptance rates (A&M just a little higher). They also have roughly the same GPAs. UT applicants had slightly higher MCAT scores.

You can major in anything you want as long as you get your required classes done and maximize your MCAT and GPA. Both documents show the various majors of applicants. It is a really good idea to major in something you can get a job with in case you 1) don’t want to go to medical school 2) drop out of medical school or 3) don’t get in to medical school.

Which one is cheaper for you? You’re going to need to save your money and “debt capacity” for medical school.
