UTD vs. UNT vs. UH (+other Texas colleges I haven't considered)

I’ve done quite a bit of research on UH vs. UTD, although I’ve only really considered UNT recently. Thanks to being NMF, I will have full ride guaranteed in UNT and at least full tuition with UH and UTD, though I’m hoping additional scholarships will help cover additional costs, such as Academic Excellence Scholarships and whatever FAFSA gives me.

I’m looking for a diverse school that has students with a liberal mindset and is near a major city. Pro-LGBT is a must. Being near good nightlife is a plus, since it’s something I’ve never done but am interested in. Orchestra is another activity I’m interested in. I’m totally unsure about what major I want to be in, which makes the decision that much harder. I’m currently thinking something along the lines of Media Design/Production, Game Design (most likely a similar equivalent), Psychology, Statistics, Marketing, or Finances (Yeah, I know that’s a lot). UTD’s extensive Game Design classes intrigue me. I will definitely be living on campus.

I’ve only visited UH so far, and I’m planning on visiting the other two during winter break. If you guys recommend any additional colleges, make sure they offer National Merit scholarship or another substantial scholarship because I don’t wanna break my wallet. Thank you for your help!

(BTW if it’s wrong to post this thread in more than one subforum, let me know. I just didn’t want this to be ignored and never answered, haha)

You need to check out Texas State. You would be 30 minutes from Austin and San Antonio and the campus is very very diverse. They have a strong LGBT community and it is in a real college town. If you like UNT you will love TXST. UT would also be a great option for you if you can get in. UH is a very diverse and has a growing on campus community. I graduated from UofH years ago and loved the experience. UTD is a fine school but it not for everyone. I would strongly suggest you do your research and visit the campus before signing on. They do give great merit awards which makes it hard for many students to say no. Just understand you will not have a typical college experience at UTD. Some folks love it and some hate it. Based on your wants list TXST and UT should be high on your list.

@QuestionerZ UTD may or maynot be the school for your but if you live on campus, their National Merit Scholarship will only leave you a $500 a year short of a full ride. UT Austin gives $0 for National Merit. UNT has a great music program.
