Well am planning to major in comp science and am in a dilemma about where to go between the two universities UIUC costs higher has good rankings in top 5 in most engineering and sciences. UWisc. Overall is better than UIUC in top public universities. Am confused between the two. How are both the universities in employment after graduation from these 2 universities? and also academically which is better?

Computer science, UIUC def wins. Bill Gates said microsoft recruits the most people from UIUC.

not just Microsoft but my sister was recruited to Lockheed Martin and makes a beepload of money.

UIUC is ranked #2 for computer science. Computer science is one of their best programs. Its one of the few program in which higher tuition is worh it.

and where are these computer science rankings could you tell me please?

The USNWR rankings of Computer Sceince programs is done for Graduate programs. For Undergrad only Computer or Electrical Engineering are ranked. Here are some links I saw on the web. Hopefully someone has access to, and will post, the full USNWR graduate rankings for Computer Sceince and four specialties of:
Artificial Intelligence
Programming Language
Systems
Theory

Here is the link to USNW Grad rankings (they only list top 3 for non-members):
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/grad/rankings/phdsci/phdsciindex_brief.php

Sorry about the ********

Still missing the Grad rankings of Computer Specialties:
Artificial Intelligence
Programming Language
Systems

Here is the detail of that link:

Apparently, these were ranked in 2006 and the results were published in the 2007 guide.

would you recommend going into comp sci with no experience? cuz ive never done programming but i like working with computers and i have a business fixing them and im also looking into the u of i but cant decide on which engineering to major in

you do realize asking for this comparison on the UIUC board will give you a different response than say, on the Wisconsin board?

errr...you should only do computer science if you actually like working with code and programming, not just b/c it's good money. computer science has nothing to do w/ computers and how they work.

"would you recommend going into comp sci with no experience? cuz ive never done programming but i like working with computers and i have a business fixing them and im also looking into the u of i but cant decide on which engineering to major in"

Most intro level required CS classes assume u have no prior knowledge in the subject. So yeah you dont really need any experience before coming here. Everything is pretty much taught from scratch. But with that being said a lot of people do come in with loads and loads of experience( some nerds programming since they were like 10) and they end up f###ing up the curves

Bii Gates came to UW and spoke to a CS class. With UW you get a great CS education and a great well-rounded university experience.
