I’m a senior and am wondering what my chances of getting into UVA are for the college of arts and sciences. I’m in the top 4% of my class with a 4.44 gap. The weakest part of my application are my sat scores. My composite score is a 1980(630 math, 770 writing, 580 reading). I do a solid amount of extracurriculars. For example, I’m the nhs president and deca co president. I played varsity tennis and cheerleading sophomore and junior year. I’m also a northern va resident. Can anybody let me know my chances? Does anybody maybe know some people who got in with a similar application to mine? Are my sat scores too weak? Thanks guys!
I made a kind of awful face at the “I’m also a northern va resident.” That makes it tough for most colleges, so if it’s not too late to retake the SAT, do it. I used to live in Loudoun and it was a huge freak-out for most of the high schoolers that I knew who didn’t make it into AOS or TJ. Your GPA is high, what’s your course rigor?
I took 1 Ap my sophomore year, 4 aps last year, and 4 aps in all my core classes this year, including a DE class. I’m also taking three science classes so I don’t have any “fluffy” classes. And I can take the sat in November and December as I am applying regular decision. I realize i have a lot of competition in my area so I will do my best to get those scores up. I only took the sat once and got my scores back today haha. Thank you for your input!
