UVA vs Vassar

How would you compare the two?

given I have never heard of Vassar . . .

^^^Vassar is ranked 12th amongst LAC’s. It is one of the historic seven sister schools. I am surprised BigShot you have not heard of it. It is located in Poughkeepsie, NY.

ahh I see, it is a private liberal arts college. I am only familiar with colleges that have business schools or are famous ranked universities.

The way I see it, liberal arts educations give you a good all around knowledge of a large array of topics. However, I think UVA is better in my opinion because you have 2 years of arts and science college education.

This of course only applies if you are an undergraduate. But that is just my opinion

Bigshot, I don’t know who you think you are, especially with a name like big shot, but if I were you, I would refrain from posting on topics you know nothing about. It doesn’t look flattering.

I would say the main difference between UVA and Vassar is the big impersonal state school feel vs that of an LAC. Despite the previous post, I would argue that both institutions offer equal quality educations. The real difference is culture. If you follow the beat of your own drummer and prefer others with similar quirks, I suggest vassar. If you don’t mind a little southern prep, and prefer a little more anonymity, UVA would be better for you. The real contrast is in culture.

It’s also important to note the gender cultures at each school are very different. Even though Vassar is co-educational, it is 70% female. It also has a large LGBT community. There is a much lower straight men to women ratio than at other schools, and this greatly impacts the culture. It may seem silly, but I suggest researching on other sites about the culture of Vassar. I’m sure this topic will come up.

I think I am a member of an online public forum, voicing my opinion to give the OP something to think about when making their decision.
