UW Madison BFA

I admit that I’m not as educated in these subjects as I should be, so please refrain from insulting me for that. I was wondering how BFAs actually work, if that makes sense. I know at some schools you get your BFA, but have a concentration such as ceramics or textiles. I would want to focus on graphic design, since I already know that I wouldn’t want to do any other subject. Is that a thing?

Hi @joanofdarc - Yes, it’s definitely a thing. BFA in Graphic Design is a degree offered by many good Art schools and some Universities - but not all. I notice you’ve specified UW-Madison. Madison has an Art BFA but looking quickly I didn’t see a Graphic Design BFA. If you know for sure what you want to major in the first step would be finding the Universities and Colleges that offer that degree.

OP you should also post on the Art major forum.

UW-Madison offers quite a few courses in graphic design and related studios for their BFA’s. Flip through the guide till you reach the course offerings:

UW admits either “Art” or “pre-Art” depending on whether you submit a portfolio. Check out the admission page here:

Good Luck!
