UW Madison Direct to Engineering (and other schools; University of Washington)

When you apply as a direct admit to engineering or business, they make you name another secondary major as well. That way, if you fit the college as a whole but may not have the math scores they are looking for you will get in with your secondary major.

Hello, this is my first post in CC, but have been following posts here for some time now.

I too have a upcoming senior looking to apply to Madison engineering. Does she need to identify an engineering major as her first choice, or can she simply apply as 'engineering undecided ’ as her first choice? I understand that she will indicate a 2nd major outside of engineering. She is instate, ACT 34: (E 35, M33, R34, S34)

I toured Madison with my daughter and did the engineering tour. The admissions person form engineering stated you can just put engineering undecided when you apply She also stated that if you do pick a specific engineering major it is not a big deal to change it before the second year.
