UW Pres House dorm keeps tax exemption

Nice for the students who live at that great location.

Walker veto will allow Pres House to remain tax-exempt

Not fair to others, however.

Church-state–no taxes. Been that way since the founding. Supplying a religion positive residence at a non-sectarian school falls within their basic outreach functions. Not much different than the tax exempt YMCAs all over the country that operate both housing and rec centers.

This is a wierd one. The original tax exemption was based on its non-profit status and housing a certain % of students rather than religion. The chapel was always tax exempt. Then the religion argument began for the housing too.
