I moved to the U.S. in September 2014 and have lived in Spokane, WA since then. I am a permanent resident, however, when I checked the UW status earlier, I saw a line stating “Residency: Non-resident”… I completed 8th grade year in WA, and all four years of my high school as well (currently a senior), and before I call the admission officer, I just want to make sure that I am a resident.
Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!
@Wishmeluck18 don’t stress too much mistakes happen. If you are a permanent resident and you reside in WA, you’ are probably instate (At least that’s what I think). But to be sure, I suggest that you call the UW’s Office of Admissions, and politely explain your situation. After all colleges receive thousand of applications. You probably just need to clarify your status. I understand that 80% of incoming Freshman at UW are WA residents so I would call sooner than later. Better chance to get in if part of the 80%
^ Seems so. Here are the admit rates for the 2018 freshman class:
WA residents: 4444/7141 (62.2% of class)
Admit rate: 7459/13115 (56.9%)
US non-residents: 1527/7141 (21.4%)
Admit rate: 11229/22878 (49.1%)
International: 1179/7141 (16.4%)
Admit rate: 3662/9914 (36.9%)
