Vaccine reluctance & General COVID Discussion

Any other Ohio folks aware of a digital vaccine record through the ODH??? I mean, I know when my vaccines occurred and have my card with dates and such, but a digital record other than a photo of my card would be nice. All my vaccines were via my employer, a health system.

Maybe this? ImpactSIIS-Web Main Page

Iā€™ll check that out!

At least 10 states offer digital vaccine passports (and even more states ban them ):

I was talking about the generic health app with a heart that comes on the iPhone.

I guess Iā€™m 'old fashioned"ā€“I keep a clear photograph of my vax card on my phone!

Thatā€™s a digital record too! just a self-made one.

Interesting pre-pub study on the effectiveness of mandatory masking in schools . . .

I am not aware of any establishment that checks for Covid vaccination any more. My company doesnā€™t require vaccination to go back to work now.

My employer uses vaccination status when determining the reaction to an exposure to a positive person. Different avenues are taken depending on vaccine status.

I did a tour of NYU grad schools last week and proof of vaccination was required. Some colleges still requiring vaccination for students and staff too.

UMD still requires covid vax or negative test for in person admissions tour.

After the Omicron waves, how many unvaccinated people are there left who have not gotten COVID-19? Seems like many establishments could be assuming that anyone who is unvaccinated has probably been infected already and therefore has some immune protection.

Good for the CDC for stepping up and admitting it fumbled the pandemic response and needs overhaul. Hopefully things will improve next time

Too bad the CDC Director didnā€™t recognize her own shortcomings!

This may get flagged, but letā€™s be fairā€”this botched pandemic response bridged over two administrations.

Agreed, but the CDC role had much room for improvement throughout, as it admits.

CDCā€™s failure isnā€™t limited to mishandling of responses to Covid. It also failed in its response to the monkeypox outbreak, according to this morningā€™s NY Times:

It probably didnā€™t help that the 2016 appointee had to resign in scandal in 2018. But I think the real problems were structural. No one had dealt with a pandemic on this scale. Even when they tried to give good advice (Redfield suggested masks early on,) they got pushback and did not stand firm.
