Hello,
Ever since I was a little kid I had a dream of being valedictorian or salutatorian. As a sophomore my g.p.a. was 4.21 this year because I was really dumb in AP Bio and I got a B. My friend had a g.p.a. 4.5 taking and took an extra honors math class since she is a year ahead in math and having an A in AP Bio. I know I have time but next year I am taking 4 AP Classes while others take 5 and my friend will be taking 6 (she knows Spanish so she’s taking AP) . I honestly feel so dumb and so regular right now. Is there even a chance or trick or method I can use to raise my g.p.a. for at least senior year??
Valedictorian and Salutatorian are superficial titles. They mean nothing once you get out of high school. If you think it raises your chances of getting into HYP, you’re wrong; there are thousands of Val’s out there, HYP can’t take every single one. Just do your very best in high school and stop chasing after a title that is (to be completely honest) meaningless. As long as you have a strong GPA, you should be fine for college, if that’s what you’re going at. My sister was third in her class (missed out Sal by .2) and got accepted into Cornell with a 2300 SAT. She is now at Harvard Law School. The Val at her school had a high GPA but a low SAT and went to a low tier private school. I don’t think they’re at post bacc or grad school. Don’t worry too much about titles.
