Validity of Joint/Interdisciplinary majors

I know Northeastern offers a ChemE and Physics joint major, but would this be less beneficial to me as opposed to pure ChemE or pure physics major? Is taking a joint major or interdisciplinary major in general a bad idea because you get a broad view of several subject instead of in depth focus in one?

Or conversely, does having a joint/inter major make it easier to get a job or get into grad school because people will see you are experienced in several focuses.

Thanks

this question is not northeastern specific, i just gave an example to emphasize my point, I am talking about joint/inter majors in general
