Value of MA in econ for grad school admissions

Would a student (in a top 20 school) double-majoring in econ/math benefit in any way from completing Masters requirements as well (in 4 years total) if overall objective is a top 10-15 PhD econ program ?

Thanks in advance.

Bump.....Bump......

It all depends on specifics such as GPA, courses, and maybe recomendations. Perhaps it could be helpful, though on the margin, it seems...uh...marginal.

And honestly, I'd stay away from MA programs, and work to get an MSc.

A time I could see the MA being useful is if the applicant is doing a career 180, and needs to get all the math and underlying concepts under their belt.
