Value of Sports for Applying to top Ivies?

Hi,

I'm not very athletic, and I am not in any JV/V sports. I'm a sophomore at a competitive NJ high school btw. I do have strong ECs, 4.0, and good test scores, as well as recommendations I think, and I am aiming for Harvard. What would you say about the significance of sports for me? Would they be a major downside? Are they sort of a requirement for not getting piled into the ever-growing category of bright, unathletic, academic Asians?

Thanks.

Charlie

Charlie, I think sports only matter if you’re a recruited athlete. If you’re not, then sports participation is no more important than any other EC. So I wouldn’t worry about it - just be authentic and let your own interests and passions show in your application. Good luck!

Thanks. Any other responses? I will chance back, thanks!
