What is Vanderbilt like? I know it is very greek and many people I have talked to said that either they were happy there because they were involved in greek life or unhappy because they weren't. What are your views? Is there even time for a social life with all the work?

Haha, it’s very silly to be “unhappy” with your social life if you’re not involved in Greek life… for one, as a female, you can pretty much attend frat parties even if you’re not in a sorority, and as a guy, if you know some brothers, you can attend frat parties too. And beyond that, there’s tons to do that’s not Greek. Half of the girls aren’t involved in Greek life here, and over half the guys aren’t involved. There are so many things on campus and around Nashville to do that’s it’s absurd to be limited to Greek activities… Hillsboro Village is within walking distance and has great shopping and places to go out for dinner, and Belcourt Theater is an amazing little indie, foreign film theater right there. There are film screenings offered MULTIPLE nights per week, there are parties all over campus that aren’t associated with Greek life, there are clubs all over downtown and some closer to campus, there are music venues EVERYWHERE (The Exit/In is within walking distance), there are sporting events, shopping malls, etc. Everything.

And there is a time for social life “with all the work.” The work load is what you make of it. You can skate through with 12 credit hours per semester, or you can load up and take 18. 18 is a full load but it’s do-able and you still have time to have fun. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t have time to go out and have fun.
