Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2018]

@NathaliaNhem I did a while back. You have to do both FAFSA and CSS

Does ability to pay normally factor into schools transfer admissions? Are they less so need-blind with transfers than they are with a freshman?

@Eggyeol It really depends on the university. Vanderbilt doesn’t factor in need for transfer students but you should always check the institution’s policies and never assume that just because they are need-blind for freshmen, they are need-blind for transfer. (Bowdoin College is an example of this!)

Yea, I really don’t care if someone had those connections, I would use them too. But @Stewartson is lying 100%. Vandy has never released individual decisions. No one else heard back.

Also, @Stewartson said in a “chance me” “Sorry you have no chance… you can always go to CC and apply as a transfer like I’m doing now”.

No chance with his grades and connections he would be at CC, for any reason. If he wanted to go to Vandy, with those connections and grades he would’ve gotten in first round, probably with a huge, if not full, scholarship. He would’ve gotten into Harvard, or probably anywhere, most likely with full rides.

It’s a shame awful people like @Stewartson are on this site, trying to lie so much. I will never understand it. Stupid debate to even be having.

@Stewartson is a liar.

@Eggyeol Great question and I was wondering that myself at every university, particularly with transfers.

Last year my daughter applied to Vanderbilt as a transfer and my ex-wife decided not to send in any financial information, because she wrote Vanderbilt off as too expensive to even consider. My daughter and I weren’t aware of this, but I was wondering why Vanderbilt never pinged me for tax returns or anything. The ex-wife drives the financial aid due to child custody, so Vanderbilt had zero information about me as well.

AFTER my daughter was accepted, Vanderbilt reached out to her to ask if she was applying for financial aid. We only filled out forms and released financial information AFTER her acceptance.

We were pleasantly shocked at the amount of money Vanderbilt offered in the financial aid package.

I was not surprised when I saw Vanderbilt’s Financial Aid office as #2 in the country in the Princeton Review.

Vanderbilt doesn’t just have the Happiest students. It has the happiest parents.

I cannot speak about any other university, but Vanderbilt’s Financial Aid is absolutely completely separate from Vanderbilt Admissions decisions.

@bloomfield88 Thank you for your testimonial! My respect for Vanderbilt just grew much higher <3

4 days!!! I’m hype!!!

@TerrierNation first wave is on Monday?

Based on many years of evidence, it should be. That being said, it’s not guaranteed, and the admissions office is keeping very quiet. So we’ll see.

Best of luck to y’all!

I was emailing my admissions counselor and she’s apparently out of the office until April 17th. I’m thinking that’s gonna be the first wave

Yes. Vandy has a tradition that many counselors would return email automatically near the date of decision release by saying that they are out of office. @futur3clssof2o2o

Oh that would explain why my counselor is leaving me on read…

5 more DAYSSSSS HOLY CRAP!!!

only if you’re first wave @NathaliaNhem

@transferguy163 shiiiii I’m still excited af

I’m pretty excited too. Vanderbilt will be my second college decision if I end up in the first wave, so crossing my fingers for the best.

Not being first wave is like a soft rejection, right?

@TerrierNation Nah, definitely not the case. It’s true that a majority of acceptances are usually in the first wave, but in now way are you out of the running if you’re not notified by then. I’d consider a waitlist, for the most part, a “soft rejection”.

Not exactly. There are some acceptance in the second wave as well. But, the majority of the first wave would be acceptance usually. @TerrierNation
