I will be a Mathematics and Int'l Relations, and I was wondering which of the two do you recommend. I am fully aware of Princeton's reputation, endowment and so on, but I just don't know which is the best in terms of Student Life... Vandy seems composed of smart party people to me, while Princeton has its fair share of dorks (no offence to anyone). Your views would be greatly appreciated

I would recommend going to Princeton. It will set you up so well.

i had 3 friends go to vanderbilt last year and all of them hate it. everyone is really stuck up and snobby, very very very cliquey school and the overall student life that they experience is horrible (my friends arent introverts, they go to parties and hang out with asu kids all the time). apparently vanderbilt just wasnt for them. i would suggest u visit because especially with vandy and duke, i have heard horrible experiences at both schools

but i would definitely suggest u check out princeton, its definitely not as nerdy as people think. =P

I am a Vanderbilt student and I absolutely love Vanderbilt. I find most people here very friendly but it is fair to say that there are some snobby rich kids here. The best thing to do is to visit, but if you are looking for opinions, my opinion is a direct contradiction to the one given by shrek2004.

However, if I were to choose Vanderbilt or Princeton, I would choose Princeton simply because it is better academically and is a lot more prestigious. You don't have to be a nerd to attend Princeton.

I have a friend going to Vanderbilt next year, and he said he's visited and didn't find the overall population stuck up or snobby at all. It's kind of like the same stigma that's associated with Princeton: it can be applied to some, but definitely not the whole. Vanderbilt's a good school, but honestly, I'd choose Princeton over it in a heartbeat due to several reasons including those which Dorepool stated. Another big one is location: I simply couldn't live in Nashville, TN. Sorry, hehe.

"everyone is really stuck up and snobby, very very very cliquey school and the overall student life that they experience is horrible"

WOW. I attend Vandy and from personal expierence the majority of the student body is not stuck up. I find it interesting that without even attending the school you can brand "everyone" as being snobby. Maybe you should visit the school before making false claims. The student body does exhibit good social skills (but thats not a bad thing), and nearly everyone falls in love with the school.

Princeton has more prestige, but you will definitely have more fun at Vanderbilt. Princeton girls while much better than Harvard, Yale, and Cornell aren't really anything to write home about. Vanderbilt is definitely a school for smart kids who like to party, but if you choose Princeton I'd join an eating club.

[If I had the choice I'd pick Princeton. But Princeton and UPenn are the only two schools I personally would pick over Vandy. College is the best four years of your life and I couldn't survive without a decent social scene]
