No one knows. That is a fact. We may see more people off the waitlist or not
I have a question and please tell me someone has the answer. So say i take a gap year for this upcoming 2021-2022 academic year. Am i eligible to reapply for Vanderbilt in the fall? or can i not do that because I already applied for vanderbilt this past fall?
You are eligible to apply as a freshman as long as you are not taking classes somewhere else. So if you take a gap year, make sure you don’t enroll in community college and take a bunch of courses. At that point you will then have to apply as a transfer student. But if you aren’t enrolled and taking classes at a different institution of higher education (after having finished HS), you can definitely re-apply to Vanderbilt or anywhere else. The question is whether or not you will have improved your chances as an applicant in a measurable way based on how you apply/what you do with yourself during the gap year.
Vandy really has me checking my spam mail for an update…
same … it’s so annoying how they haven’t said anything
lol i check my email so many times a day now… my admission counselor might have even stopped emailing me back💀about to take myself off the waitlist, it’s not worth it anymore and it seems like they are full anyway
Okay my AO emailed me back again and basically said there is no new info but they’d send us all and email when there is. There hasn’t been new info for weeks though so
Ok, so are the AO’s part of the admissions decisions process? As in they aid in accepting and declining offers because I was under the influence that they were, or is their role more of being an informative outlet for students?
There has only been one wave so far, right?
Yes, only 1 wave. I think this probably means that they’re almost full or are full. I think that there’s three possibilities from here: 1. There’s another wave, probably much smaller than the last one, however. 2. Vanderbilt will unofficially close the waitlist, saying that they are at capacity, but will keep the waitlist open through the summer through an extended waitlist in case spots open up, and possibly a few people will get off from there. 3. Vanderbilt officially closes the waitlist, rip us. I’m of course hoping for scenario #1 but I think #2 or #3 are a little more likely, although I think they’ll do #2.
It really sucks because Vanderbilt in the past has had a really good waitlist acceptance rate, and if you sent a LOCI you used to have a pretty good shot of getting in, especially last year.
This is a bit confusing because this year colleges were expected to rely more than usual from wait lists. That’s because students applied to more colleges than usual, which means yield should have gone down. Instead, most colleges seem to be admitting fewer wait list students than normal.
Yield rates are back to normal levels so waitlists were definitely not going to be admitting as many as last year, plus the fact that there were a bunch of gap year students at some colleges taking up a lot of spaces.
Do you think they offered more spots, knowing their yield would be lower?
any news?? i’m getting impatient
It’s not looking good. I am doing what they suggested…loving the University I am going to. Would be nice to get a final email though…stating they are done, or still filling spots.
I’d say forget about it. Start loving your school. I’m fully immersing myself into Case Western that I’m not even sure I’d go at this point. If an offer comes, it will be a nice surprise. But no one should be expecting to get off the waitlist at this point tbh
Yes, I would hate to be left with the worst housing and offers waiting this long for information. I have scholarships asking which school to mail scholarship checks to ad I cannot wait. If I get an offer it would be awesome, but I’ll just try again next year as a transfer.
Maybe you will be happy where you are!
My guidance counselor reached out to admissions for me and the response that she got is that they will keep the waitlist open through the summer but that their “class is currently in a good spot” and that from here on out “there could still be some movement, but I expect it will be very little”
Thanks for the info. Vanderbilt really should tell the kids that.
