It seems as though a lot of people on CC list varsity track and field and varsity cross country as an activity on their applications. I was just wondering how easy it is to be on varsity track and field/xc at other schools? Also, people who are on varsity track and field/xc do you letter?

yeah you letter in a sport if you're on varsity

Depends on the school size, size of track program, etc. Some smaller/mid size schools compete only in varsity since they can't field both a JV team and a varsity team.

we don't have jv track or cc--everyone who joins is on varsity (there are no tryouts for track or cc), but not everyone gets a letter. you have to compete so many times to get a letter.

like green1 said, depends on the school.

i had to work really hard to be on varsity. it was a little intense LOL. and no, not everyone letters at my school.

At my school, only starting athletes get a letter.

However, coaches get around that by giving deserving players a chance to start one game/match/meet so they can get a letter.
