Hello, I keep going back and forth between vassar and pomona. They both have so many pros and so few cons but i live in southern california and i really want to get out but i don't want the only reason for me to choose a school be because of its location. Did anyone choose Pomona over Vassar? Why/Why not?

I wouldn't feel guilty at all about location being a factor in your decision. There's no question that you will have a very different four years if you're located in New York vs. southern CA. The student mix at Vassar will be very different – definitely more New York City oriented. Both are fine schools. But I applaud the desire to want to get away and get a different perspective that comes from living in a different part of the world.

Good luck with your decision!

Hey I live in socal and I was between vassar and pomona as well. I ended up choosing Pomona, because I felt it would be a better fit for me, I loved the 5cs system, and it seemed more laidback somehow. Vassar had always been my dream school, but in the end I just felt like I'd be happier at Pomona. Good luck!

Pomona is stronger academically, but Vassar is also strong, and it ultimately comes down to fit. If you can't be happy at Pomona (hard to wrap my mind around..but I didn't grow up in socal), you'd be better off being happy at Vassar.
