General Information:

  • I am a senior enrolled at a general public high school. We are ranked nationally.
  • My parents both attended state universities.
  • I am a Caucasian female interested in studying English and Political Science.
  • I probably lie somewhere in the top 10% of my class (we do not rank). Class size is around 400.

Academics:

-IB Diploma Candidate. HL’s include Lit, 20th Century, Biology, and French. SL’s are Film Studies and Calculus.
-GPA is a 4.14 (weighted).
-SAT is a 1980 (680 in reading, 640 in math, and 660 in writing). I am planning for a retake in October.
-SAT Subject Tests: U.S. History (770). Will take Lit and Bio in November.
-AP Tests: 5 on APUSH and 4 on APLAC.

Extra Circulars:

-Model United Nations: Executive Board Member (there isn’t a president. We are a board of 7 equivalent leaders), Undersecretary General of Marketing and Technology (this was for our school’s conference. I was responsible for technological functions and marketing for the conference), and Director of Crisis (I will be coordinating the crisis committees at my school’s conference this year). Been involved in this for 3 years.
-Model Congress: Founder/Co-President
-Gay/Straight Alliance: Co-President. Been involved in this for 3 years.
-Crew: Rowed varsity for two seasons (freshmen and sophomore year).

  • My recommendations come from teachers who know me very well
  • My guidance counselor will mention in her letter that I was hospitalized (briefly) during my junior year for depression. The focus will be on how I bounced back from that experience and continued to succeed in my high school’s environment.

Unless your SAT score improves Georgetown is not likely. You have a shot at the other 3
