Objective:[ul]
[] ACT: 33 composite. Highest scores: English (36), Reading (36), Science (35), Math (29)
[] SAT II: Literature (770), and US History (720)
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.94

[li] Senior Year Course Load: AP Psychology, AP Art History, AP Literature, Theatre 4, AP Music Theory, Math 1050/1060, AP Government (both US and Comparative), and Madrigals
[/li]

Drama Club Presidency - 2 years (Secretary, then President)
Shakespeare Team - 3 years (we placed first my senior year at the Utah Shakespeare Competition in the most difficult division)
Region/State Theatre Team - 3 years (my high school has been the reigning 5A State Champions in Theatre for two years now)
Madrigals - 1 year (or Chamber Choir)
A Cappella Choir - 1 year
Lyrica - 1 year(Advanced Women’s Choir)
Other things I put on my application that I am probably forgetting
[] Job/Work Experience: Concessions at a theatre for about a year

National Charity League (Secretary) - 4 years
Teen Aide at the University of Utah Youth Theatre Program - 3 years
[] Summer Activities:
Teen Aide at the U, performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and recently traveled to Europe with the Utah Ambassadors of Music Choir (raised my own money)
[] Essays: My common app essay took a comical approach, and my Vassar essay was pretty weak considering that it wasn’t one of my top choice schools, so I didn’t have much to write about. Easily the weakest essay I wrote, but still fairly decent
[] Teacher Recommendation: Only read one of them (it was FANTASTIC), and I’m sure the other one was just as great
[li] Counselor Rec: I go to a large public high school where the counselors have no idea who you are, so who knows? Hasn’t affected my other schools so far.
[/li]

[/ul]Other:[ul]
[] State (if domestic applicant): Utah
[] School Type: Large public
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Female
[] Income Bracket: upper-middle class
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None, really.

[/ul]Reflection:[ul]
[] Strengths: ECs, GPA, test scores, my CA essay
[] Weaknesses: My Vassar essay, nothing emotionally riveting in my essays
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I really don’t know. They could probably tell in my essay that I was pretty unenthusiastic about the school, but my numbers are good enough to get in. It’s unlikely that I’ll accept my spot on the waitlist, but we’ll see
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I’ve been accepted to the University of Utah Honors College, Occidental, and UCLA. Still waiting to hear from UC Berkeley, Yale, Columbia, Stanford, NYU, and U Mich.

[/ul]General Comments: Vassar is a great school, but I don’t think it’s the right fit for me. It’s the only school I applied to that I haven’t visited, and there was a very slim chance of me going there - especially because Oxy gave me a huge scholarship and it’s one of my top choice schools. Congratulations to all who got in! Again, it’s a fantastic school, just maybe not for me :)
