has anyone got the “you’re accepted” mail/pamphlet yet or know if they send anything in the mail in addition to the online acceptance?
I have not received anything yet.
nope
There should be a nice acceptance package on the way.
Has anyone who was accepted toured the campus? COVID obviously kept us from doing so last spring/summer. Deciding on whether to do the 5 hour one-way drive just to do the “driving tour” so my daughter can at least get a feel for it… With her being waitlisted at her other top choices, this is her likely destination.
My brother and I did it somewhat illegally. It was COVID and they didn’t want visitors, but we were able to pass off as college students (thanks to my superb and my brother’s mediocre acting skills ). It was all gorgeous architecture, especially the libraries and the music chapel!! The spacing between the buildings felt a bit sporadic, but generally I really liked the campus!
Have you joined the Vassar families Facebook group? They’re a helpful bunch who might be able to give you a better sense of whether students are out and about and what’s happening on campus.
I did something similar to what @PerformingDude and just walked around campus to feel the vibe. It was a really nice day and the campus was absolutely beautiful with a lot of students out and about especially on the quad. If possible, I recommend visiting and walking around campus to feel the vibe and I’m pretty certain you won’t get caught (I walked by three security guards with my mom)
It seems the FB group is just for parents of enrolled students and not admitted students. Is that the case?
@PerformingDude @CCollegeU Did you go midweek or weekend? Next weekend fits best into our schedule but I am thinking midweek would be better to pick up the vibe.
I actually went yesterday and was surprised there were so many students around during break
I visited during April break last year, and didn’t see many students at all. I suggest going midweek as well to see the bustling of the students.
They let me join last year before my D committed. They just needed to verify that she had been accepted. Don’t know if that changed this year.
The students are in a bubble and are not allowed to leave campus, so it shouldn’t really matter whether you go during the week or on the weekend, but you may see more people walking around campus during the week. For the past few days they have been on “spring break” but they weren’t allowed to leave campus. They did have a number of fun activities planned for the students though.
Do you know if they send acceptance packages to internationals as well?
I’m sorry I don’t. But I would assume so.
Thanks!
Looking forward to getting mine! Right now Amherst and Vassar are neck and neck for me.
How’s everyone finding their financial aid packages? Our grant/scholarship aid is about $4K more vs what the Net Price Calculator suggested but is also about $7K less need-based grant/scholarship aid received from another school in the same price range.
Ours was 3k more than the Net Price Calculator but the tuition + room and board is about $3000 higher next year than what was on the NPC.
