Vassar Traditions?

Hi! So, Vassar's one of my top choice schools, but I wanted to know what traditions students take part in. When I visited back in February, my tour guide briefly mentioned serenading, but I wanted to know more about that, too.

But yeah, what traditions really make Vassar, well, Vassar? Hahah. :)

I was accepted under ED, so I’m not too familiar with the traditions yet, but I know of a couple. As you mentioned, Serenading definitely tops the list. Basically, it’s a campus wide food fight. Seniors throw ketcham, mustard, mayo, paint and just about anything else they can get their hands on at any and all students on campus. I know this year apparently it almost didn’t happen and they limited what could be thrown or something like that, but either way I’m so so excited for this, haha.
At graduation every year, sophomore girls wear white dresses and carry a chain of daisies. This has happened since Vassar’s beginning and you can probably find pictures of it if you google it or something.
Other than those two, there’s Harvest Festival and dorm-sponsored parties that happen every year like the 7 deadly sins party and others.

Either way, definitely come to vassar! :)

Two words: Scantily. Clad.

I’ve read that one of the residential buildings hosts a haunted house every halloween, which is open to the students and public. Something like that. The heaven and hell party as well.

Copy cat.
Ate a rat.
Got fat.
Died of that.

Primal Scream. At midnight of the morning that final exams start the students gather on the quad and-scream. The barefoot monkeys usually put on a fire show-sometimes naked-and there are other activities. Then everyone goes over to ACDC for a middle of the night breakfast. S had his eggs dished up by Cappy-the college president.

Scantily clad does not actually exist anymore, but many of the campus parties basically turn into that…

yea…no more
