Vassar Vs. McGill

I have to choose between going to Vassar and going to McGill and I just can't to decide which would better at the level of location, atmosphere, education, internship opportunities, reputation and all that jazz...Please help?

This sort of reminds me of the McGill vs. Connecticut College threads.

I think this is slightly different :stuck_out_tongue:
I really need to make a choice soon and I’ve been told by some people that McGill is more internationally recognized but I haven’t been able to get a lot of insight on how Vassar compares to it.

your college experience at mcgill and vassar could not be more different.

if you want a very large university in a great city, that’s mcgill. i know people who go there. they say that you dont have to go to class all the time because classes are gigantic. at the same time, they have a lot of work because most of their grades come from midterm and final exams. they do say the work is very hard. there is barely any campus and community there.

on the other hand, vassar has an outstanding community. everything is centered around the campus. classes are a lot smaller and you have personal connections with your classmates and professors.

they are both good schools. i do not think mcgill’s reputation is any better than vassars, except in canada. you also should choose a school based on what is best for you, not what other people think has a better reputation. choose based on what you want your college experience to be like.

I wanted to note that McGill may be a little misrepresented by people who would respond here (the people who like Vassar probably would not like McGill). You may also want to ask McGill students what they like and dislike about the school.
