Can anyone compare the two schools? Strengths of each school? Weaknesses? Similarities? Differences? These two are my top choices, and I was just wondering how they compared against eachother.
Thanks.

Reed is more intense academically and ranks 3rd in the production of PhD graduates. It also has a core curriculum, and the only college with a nuclear reactor (if you are interested).
What's your intended major, btw?

Ah I forgot to say that Reed is also in an urban city while Vassar is not. You might consider this when making your decision:)

urban area, I meant. sorry

I'm only a sophomore, so I have many majors that i'm interested in. Anthropology, Classics, Biology, Religious Studies, Political Science, History, The Pre-med program, and Psychology are ones that i'm considering. Of course, I still have a full year to narrow this list down. (Plus, if I can't choose between two, a double major would work)

From what i've heard, doing a double major at Reed is VERY difficult. That being said, Religious Studies is growing in popularity at Reed.

As a current professor of Religious Studies who majored in Religion at Vassar, I highly recommend the department as currently staffed. Outrageously good (and high-profile) scholars, and excellent teachers. The department at Reed is not currently comparable, as it is much more poorly staffed (in numbers) and relies heavily on visiting instructors and visiting assistants, who are only there for brief appointments of 1-3 years, and have not yet achieved visibility in the field.

Thank you all for your input. Depending on my major, and after visiting both schools, i'll definitely have a place to apply for ED.
