venting!

okay so basically I don't know how many of yall there are out there who can relate, but my parents and teachers have been stressing me out about college since I was about, oh.. born? anyway, now that I'm a senior and it's time, my senior year has not been the laid back year it was supposed to be. Actually, it has been my hardest year academically with HL calculus, attempting to fulfill all my IB requirements and college applications. I'm starting this thread because if any of yall are like me or my friends I know you want someone to vent to when it seems like you're having a mental breakdown! so, I propose that until we all apply and get our answers back, this is the place where we can complain or freak out. Don't judge.

(:

Good luck with your senior year and your applications!

Where are you applying?

well I got into UT Austin but I’d rather get out of state. I did early action Notre Dame so I’ll be hearing back soon, ahh really nervous! But other than that I just applied to a few harder schools just to see like Dartmouth, Duke and Cornell.

Good luck with Notre Dame and your other choices!

Have you applied to any acceptable safeties out of state? Is money no object? Or do you think that you’ll qualify for a lot of aid at your choices?

Thankss!! Yeah I have a lot of state schools that are not in texas, but I think if I’m just going to a state school I mine as well stay here because I have a lot of money here since I got National Hispanic Scholar or something and because of IB I would enter UT as a sophomore. Howeverr, if I do get into a school out of state like Notre Dame I would definitely rather go there.

One of the best solutions to this that I’ve seen was from a teammate of my son’s. The boy’s parents were relentless about every step in the college process. By February, he had had enough, and his response was to cut his hair in a mohawk and dye it purple (it looked awesome, BTW.) Every negative comment of his parents transferred from college to the hairstyle, which they could not stand, needless to say. And he survived the application season and then shaved off the mohawk! I think he made his point.
