Thanks. that's weird, that people with low SATs (like 400s, 500s on each section)/low GPAs (3.2 range) got accepted.. no "athlete/legacy" sign either.

i entered my data for both and both come up as maybe's but on the lower side (at least it's not reach i guess).

i did apply to USC, but i'm pretty sure i would pick berkeley over it (one reason is of course cost, the other is.. i dont know i just feel uneasy about usc in general) like i said.. however no point saying all this before i find out, especially with my chances so slim.

but i think id also rather go to berkeley over dartmouth (i mean both places are superb education and berkeley is a lot closer).. of course these schools are 180 degrees apart.

i guess i'll just have to hope for the best.. maybe more people with the low GPA/high SAT (and good ECs/essays?) can chime in.. :p

Unless you have extenuating circumstances or an admissions tip (low income, first gen to college, inner city school), your GPA is the #1 criteria for admissions. For 'regular' kids with those stats, admission chances would be extremely low. But, chances are zero if you do not apply. Good luck.

Concur with others about 'SC -- it is test score happy, so just loves those high testers.

Here is the Hout Report. It is about the comprehensive review process at Berkeley. It is very long so browse before printing. Although the report evaluates their comprehensive review procedures, you can learn a lot about Berkeley admissions by reading it. (Or maybe I was simply willing to read ANYTHING when my child was applying to college.)

Wow this was a while back, I just remembered it. Updating this thread, I was accepted to Berkeley :), but I decided not to attend and am currently attending University of Chicago.

Congratulations. You definitely deserved it. Hope you’re enjoying the edge of the ghetto, the rickety wood-braced L, and the winds of Chi-city :)

I have gotten a 3.9 or higher every year except for sophmore, when I got a 3.0 … will berkeley see this as a fluke thing? I was going to write about how I was verging on anorexic that year… Here are my stats:

I haven’t taken the subject tests yet…
(US History is going to be easy, I’ve had a lot of hard teachers in it. lol)
(MathII should be easy, most of the things in it seem easy to remember)
