My daughter is excited about summer stock work that starts soon. I’ve cobbled a packing list together so that items she might need for the summer in one state don’t get put in storage at her school in another state. Would love to hear some thoughts from people who have done this before. No doubt she will learn much about life on the road by the end of the the season from her more experienced and older cast mates. (A both comforting and frightening thought.) How to get her started, though. The food part has me stumped. There is a communal kitchen and a grocery store an hour away. She doesn’t cook. Not yet, anyway. One can only eat so much PB&J. Is it reasonable to ship some staples?
@PaperTrope - My D’s first summer at summer stock - She stocked up on protein shake mixes to help with breakfasts, and I also sent protein bars, nuts, dried fruit and things that were healthy but weren’t perishable. She wasn’t yet much of a cook either that first summer (although meals were provided for her - she needed healthier options) She learned a lot that summer about what to choose to fuel her body. If they all have to cook - I’m sure that groups of the company will head to the grocery together.
Thank you, @kategrizz. I think I just needed to hear that someone survived. Mild freak out moment yesterday. Her landscape is becoming more and more unfamiliar to me. She will be fine. Me, too. And I will keep sending protein bars and healthy teas as if they are some kind of magic potions to keep illness and malaise at bay.
