Veternarian ?'s

I couldnt find a vet thread, so here goes.
I love animals, especially dogs and cats. It's not just that they are good friends and fun to be around. it's also their intelligence and intellectual qualities. I will prob. major in psych. or animal behavior with a minor in which ever one i dont major in. I want to be a phys. assistant or vet, leaning towards vet. BUT, the big obstacles.

1) I'm not great at math:
I'm ok, i made A's through pre-calc. with studying and did ok, but this year i'm taking AP calc. and AP stats. I'm ok at stats with a 88, but my calc is close to a 85-86. I study very hard just to get those grades. Do you need to be really good at math to succeed in these careers? I am good at the sciences though.

2) my state doesnt have a vet school.
I'm from AR, and there is no vet school. that means i have to go to another state that is under contract w/ AR for vet school. there are only 12, yes 12, spots available for arkansas students at those schools. not good odds. Will it even be possible to goto vet school? lol

Thanks guys. Also, i'm contemplating other animal-based careers. please post any other careers i may enjoy (i dont care if i'm rich at what i do, i just want to be financially secure, i'm happy w/ $60,000 a year.)

My daughter also loves animals. She is finishing up a degree in equine science and is going to start on a second major in zoology. Another special school she looked into is: http://www.moorparkcollege.edu/catalog/subjects/eatm0.htm
This sounds like a great program for someone serious about animal care and training. There is a book out, written about the program called (I believe) "Kicked, Bitten and Scratched"---I read it and it was very interesting what the students go through in their training.
