Vibration/buzz sensation in foot

Hi, I’ve seen some older posts here on this topic but I don’t believe anyone revisited mentioning their symptom went away.

I’ve had this vibration/cat purring sensation for about 6-7 days. 15 seconds of vibration/buzz and a minute or so of no vibration/buzz.

Can’t feel it with hands and can’t see movement on foot.

Feels like it’s on pinky toe and next toe.

Diabetic with drastically reduced A1c over the last 6 months.

Dr. and neurologist seem to think the nerves are reinnervating and coming alive.

Anyone ever had this and did it resolve? If so, how long?

Glad you have conferred with your docs especially with the diabetic history. They are the experts I’d go with what they say! Must be a little annoying though!

Definitely distracting. Hoping it goes away with time. A1c is 5.5 and I have had greatly reduced neuropathy symptoms in 4-5 months.

I had all sorts of small fiber neuropathy symptoms. Cold toes, burning toes and pain.

They are mostly gone.

This is not pain or pins and needles. Just vibrating/buzz/cat purring.

I should also say GP and Neurologist ruling out MS.

Go to a Podiatrist and get it checked out. It could be many many things. Seems like a spasm. But if it doesn’t go away don’t let it linger since then problems can get worse. Ice 20 minutes every 2 hours and anti-inflammatory is always a good idea for most starting issues. If you can move it without pain that is always a good sign. Most urgicares have no clue about foot pain as well as most pcp. Glad your ha1c is in check.

If in between the toes can be a pinched nerve.

Coincidentally or not, per Podiatrist MRI in November, I have had 1 and possibly 2 neuromas in the foot. MRI’s can be tricky picking up thick tissue.

Had a cortisone shot last week. Wondering if the neuroma bugged a nerve.

The neuroma is the nerve… Lol. That is your problem. Using a diagnostic ultrasound works better for this over MRI to find soft tissue /nerve issues.

Yes, I believe you are correct. It’s the neuroma causing this. It’s slowly gotten a little better each day but still there and still rhythmic. I must of aggravated last week maybe during PT.

Talk to the PT to help treat it,If your not going for that. I don’t use cortisone injections a lot for this but they can be helpful to some extent.

Here’s my MRI.

“Poorly defined soft tissue thinkening between 2nd and 3rd and 3rd and 4th metatarsal head.”

Result……“Possible small neuromas in 2nd and 3rd and 3rd and 4th intermetatarsal spaces.”

I wish I had ultrasound. This does make sense now.

Clearly I aggravated it.

Thank you.

Well, the consult is done then :joy:. Good luck to you.

Thank you very much. You appear to be a Podiatrist or Neurologist. I’m leaning toward Podiatrist.

Yep. :foot:

You’ve set my mind at ease. I don’t want surgery so I’m hoping the neuroma(s) resolve. Wearing a metatarsal pad and Hoka sneakers.

If you were in or close to Massachusetts, I’d come see you.
