Thank you so much
As noted above, S was waitlisted. Here are some ‘rough’ stats from the 2019-20 CDS…
Offered a waitlist spot: 5,500
Accepted a waitlist spot: 2,500
Admitted from waitlist: 100
So he accepted his waitlist spot, but we’ll move on.
Good luck and congratulations to those accepted!
Wow that’s shocking.
I was accepted RD to the college of arts and sciences, but since applying I have leaned more towards wanting to do business. I know the business school is more competitive, so that is not helping my case but has anyone heard of switching majors before committing? I love nova, but for the price I’d pay I would much rather know I can be in VSB before committing.
Shocking. This year is a bloodbath. You are an F’in Eagle Scout. congrats. You will be a hit somewhere excellent no doubt. I wonder when an AO thinks a Nova might be a safety and when they think they have a stong enroll potential with top students. Stay strong.
Accepted. Engineering. Thankful. Excited. Tough application season continues. I now realize what a horrible year it was to apply regular decision.
I think they think you are using them as a safety. I hate when schools do that!
Man looking back this one still stings
I got rejected school of business
34 ACT
4.1W GPA
Full IB
Got into William and Mary, Wake Forest, and George Washington
WL at BC, BU, Northeastern, and Michigan Engineering
this one seems odd would have at least expected a waitlist
Financial Aid is out. My son is likely to decline unless we can get more on appeal. We would have to pay about double the EFC indicated on financial aid forms. He can go to Colby College for less than 1/2 the price of Villanova. It’s too bad, he really likes Villanova.
mine just says my scholarship app is under review bruhhhh
Did you receive an email saying that your FA offer was ready?
No. It was on the portal. I think all offers will be out by tomorrow
Hi, my DS’s portal also says that the scholly is under review. Does anyone know how many ars awarded? TIA
If you’ve been accepted to CLAS you’ll have to apply for an internal transfer to VSB once you’ve enrolled.
Also, is this award for the first year only or for all 4 years? Tks!
Not a surprise Colby is more generous regarding financial aid. Colby is also an excellent school - although I can’t imagine (given the many differences) too much of an accepted applicant overlap. Best of luck.
Yes, on its face, significant differences between Villanova and Colby. My son had targeted Villanova and Holy Cross, as competitive schools with good community feel, then threw in Colby as a reach. Colbyhas some similarities more to HC, although smaller and rural. Villanova would be more of a fit in size and location close to a city, but the $ is a deal-breaker.
I thought my son would be splitting his decision between Villanova and Holy Cross. The cost is almost identical for both for our family. He has shocked us and decided on U Mass Amherst which could not be more different than any of the other schools!
Similar situation for us. My son has not yet committed to Colby as he’s still thinking about UMass Amherst. Couldn’t be more different schools, other than cost with aid is about the same. Many of his classmates are in similar situation, deciding between private colleges and UMass, which is a much bigger draw than expected.
And something interesting to consider: I predict U Mass is going to get hotter in the next couple years because of the hockey team and Frozen Four. It totally happens. Many schools’ stars rise not because the school all of a sudden gets more awesome, but because one of the sports teams does something awesome, and people notice it. More apply, selectivity rate gets lower, and off they go. I think this is what has happened with Villanova. It’s interesting. We’re excited regardless. Decision made!!
