Villanova Waitlist Class of 2020

Nothing for us

I think anyone taken off the waitlist would have heard by now. They usually contact within a week after the May 1 deadline.

If anyone here is admitted with you enroll? I will. If I’m not admitted I’m greatly considering transferring in is anyone else in the same boat?

Not true… I know people who work there and I called on Friday to confirm. Nothing will be sent out until late May or early June . They have to review applicants again with the Admissions Committee. This was verified by an Admissions Cousnelor on Friday

The President of the University was quoted in a recent interview as saying that he didn’t expect the school to rely heavily on its wait list because of the rate at which admitted students were making deposits (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/grade-point/wp/2016/04/27/villanova-seeks-to-capitalize-again-on-a-basketball-crown/). Unfortunately, this is not good news for me as I too have someone in my family who was wait listed. Since winning the NCAA men’s basketball championship and being recognized by Bloomberg as having the number one undergraduate business school in the country, Villanova has become more popular, and more competitive, than ever.

I feel like that is too late as we will already have gone to Orientation. FYI - They are not looking to go to the Wait list yet. We did email the admissions rep:

After meeting with the Office of University Admission staff late last week, we were informed that we are currently holding on our decision to utilize the wait list.

We will continue to actively monitor our summer attrition but we are not optimistic at this time that we will be admitting students from the waiting list. We will let students know of our final decision by June 30.

@momoftwins2x they usually start making calls within a week after May 1 to verbally offer to some wait list candidates and haven’t done so which is a very bad sign. I guess there is always a chance that they may make room for a few kids after shuffling around some dorm spaces but they won’t be offering many spots as they did in years past. Mine isn’t interested in attending but a friend’s daughter is so we are still holding out hope for her. You never know…

It appears that Villanova has reached its target number.

@VU1842 very interesting. Thanks for posting!

Anyone hear anything?

I can’t imagine them ever going to the waitlist this year. Only 50 kids were taken off of the waitlist last year, and that was just a normal year. Plus, we are very close to running out of housing. I personally have to live in a dorm this year that is usually a freshman dorm, but is a sophomore dorm this upcoming year because there is not sufficient housing elsewhere. Unless something happened where the yield was surprisingly low this year, then I don’t see it happening.

@viking710 how bad is the housing? I don’t want to take out a student loan to pay for bunk beds in triples and unused meals on the meal plan.

you are forced into 19 meal plan basically. i use it all up usually but yea some meals go to waste. but you can always spend your meals getting water bottles if you have any unused meals left. and if you live in a triple they give you like a thousand dollars back on your next tuition bill.

Anyone hear anything about there still being room available to offer spots?

Nothing yet from our end either. My daughter is losing interest as the chances of Nova calling students from the WL seem very low by now. From what we have been told, they will let every know that they are done with the WL on June 30th.
