Hi! My son is on the waitlist at Villanova. Villanova is his first choice in colleges. Does anyone know if Villanova will be utilizing their waitlist this year? Thanks for your input.

@NovaWaitlist - I have no specific insight as to this year’s situation but based on Villanova’s common data set information, they do typically utilize their waitlist. According to the common data set information, they have typically had a fairly large waitlist (on the order of about 2,000) but over the last four years have admitted 440, 152, 494, 82 students respectively from those waitlists. Good luck!

My son was also waitlisted last year… I don’t know why but he was never denied from the waitlist. Sounds strange but it is what it is.

Great school, don’t give up or give in.

My 2nd DS is now on the search. His No.1 choice and plan “A” is the Naval Academy. He has been selected to attend the Naval Academy Summer Seminar and a sports camp. He is actively talking to one of the coaches who he meet with during a visit. He will be at the Academy for two weeks this summer.

His plan “B” is NROTC. I tried to get him to place Villanova 1st on his list. Instead he has U of South Carloina “C”, North Carloina State University, PENN ST. UNION College and BU. Not my journey so I have no say!

I hold hope for my daughter, she loved it there and still talks about it.

My DS ended up going to a very campetative large University and is quite happy. He reflected on Villanova at the start of the year and thought about a transfer but he has established a friend base over the year and now belongs to a frat. He is now very very happy where he is. So in the end as much as it may hurt where ever your DS ends up I’m certain it will all work out in the end.

All the best to your son!!

Just to give the waitlist an idea, a good friend of mine was just admitted today off of it for Nova. I think they have just begun their first wave. I was an admitted student, but decided not to attend. Best of luck to you guys!

@phantasmata - do you know what time she heard and if she heard by phone or email? thanks! i’m hoping to get off the waitlist as well…

@phantasmata what school did your friend apply to? I applied to the school of business and heard that barely anyone gets off the waitlist for business.

Yes they are using the waitlist this year. I just got accepted yesterday.

Congratulations aaleh949! Did Villanova call or e-mail you? What school had you applied to? Thanks for insight for everyone still on the waitlist.

Hello! I have recently been accepted after being placed on the waitlist. They called me, and actually left me a voicemail stating that they had good news to share about my position on the waitlist. They didn’t tell me that I was accepted until I was able to get in contact with them. I have received no e-mails from them. And mynova still hasn’t updated saying that I’ve been accepted. A little part of me is thinking that I might not have gotten in… hahaha but idk~ Good luck to everyone else!

My daughter got off the waitlist on Monday. They called her cell then our home phone College of Arts and Science. It took about an hour or so after she accepted the waitlist position for MyNova to update for her. If you have still not been updated contact the school - they have been very helpful

@NovaWaitlist Thank you! They called my house and I received my letter a couple days later. I was accepted to CAS. I believe they are accepting a group of kids at the beginning of each week, giving them till the end of the week to decide, seeing how many spots they have left and then repeating the process the next week.

I’m on the same boat - still stuck on the waitlist…

Has anyone been taken off the waitlist since May 6th? Should those still on the waitlist give up hope?

Hi all,

Don’t want to **** anyone off but…

Nova called me off the VSB wait list yesterday and not only offered me admission but also 25,000 dollars a year!

This may be rare because Villanova was my FIRST CHOICE so I sent countless recommendations, called admissions, visited campus again, wrote a really heartfelt letter of interest basically pouring my heart out to them. I showed them I wanted to be there. If anyone else is called off, congrats.

Now I need to decide between Nova and Lehigh by the end of the week! tough decision…

You answered your own question , Nova was your first choice. Go Cats!

What did you say to them on your call to them?

I sent plenty of emails to my regional rep and director of admissions, let them know I would definitely go and that it is my #1 and how I didn’t want to be anywhere else. I believe they “rewarded” me by giving me the 24k grant, even though my EFC is very high as my parents combined salary is over 500k pr yr. deposited today

It seems highly unusual for someone on the waitlist to receive such a substantial tuition discount, but that is good to know. I was under the impression that anyone on the waitlist was a full price ticket, but perhaps that is not the case. Has anyone else on the waiting list heard anything recently? My son is still on, but has already mentally and financially committed to another school. It’s almost June, so it seemed ridiculous to wait any longer.

I don’t understand Villanova…they claim that they are highly selective when you read all of their stats, however I know someone who was called on May 1, which I found strange since that was last day for deposits, letting her know she was off wait list. She was an average low B student with a 23 ACT, with 0 AP classes so go figure…yet my son’s friend was wait listed with a 4.1 average and a 30 ACT(coming from a highly competitive all boys catholic school)

@bojangles

If your son applied to business or engineering or if you haven’t been in heavy communication with admissions office, move on, as most offers were for CAS
