Violinist: Curtis Summerfest?

I know that there is a thread already addressing a bit this topic, but it was in reference to brass players. What is Curtis Summerfest like? I am currently a graduating senior in college, and my dream would be to attend Curtis as a graduate student. Would attending the summer program be beneficial to me? Thank you so much!

I don’t think I can post a link, but if you google “How frighteningly good do you have to be to get into Curtis?” you will see an entry from one of last summer’s Summerfest violin instructors on a website call SlippedDisc. She relates her perspective as an instructor. By the way, this instructor, as with the other Summerfest violin instructors, are not current Curtis faculty. They are well known graduates of Curtis and several are sought-after teachers at other institutions.

Summerfest accepts students 14 - 22. Are you age appropriate?

Historically, Curtis has not had an MM in violin. Perhaps this has changed, but I am not aware of any violinists pursuing MM degrees. Viola and voice, yes.

As far as I am aware, orchestral instrumentalists (including violin and viola) get a post-bac diploma, not an MM at Curtis. I think the only MM is for vocalists. That said, admission is extremely competitive. Studying at the Summerfest will not help with admission any more than attending any other high level festival and learning from distinguished faculty.
