thanks a lot adides

Look, the visa interview is nothing. Mine lasted 30 seconds, literally. I went in, didn't even sit down, and the lady just said "congratulations on your acceptance," and then "your eligible for an F-1 visa, please pick it up tomorrow at 2:00pm and good luck."

I didn't need any bank account statements, standardized test scores or any of what they recommend you take with you. It is really simple and they deny a visa to virtually nobody.

Relax rage666, it's easy.

yeah i guess it is easy... I just want to make sure that nothig goes wrong....

yeah, same here... the mere thought frightens me!! 1.5 years of exams, college applications etc. all can go to waste if the visa process screws up!

I had my visa interview today. All they asked was where I am going? who is paying for my education? basically that's about it...there were no tricky questions, it is definitely not a big deal...all you guys can relax.

I had mine in Calcutta a week back. I was asked no tricky questions. A good SAT score more or less ensures a visa. The visa officer saw my dad's bank statement, nothing else.

radhika who interviewed you? Sara Nelson or someone else?

Dont know the name. There were two, one was young and the other middle aged. Both seemed pretty nice. I was interviewed by the middle aged one.

Did people here get a 4 year or 5 year F1 visa? If you did get a 4 year visa, what are your plans once you finish college?

Ummm.... if they ask you to prove you wanna return you could obviously say(if you're Indian) that all the action's in China India etc. nowadays and thats where you can really make money.

Argh, I have my interview tomorrow...
Okay, this question might seem silly-ish, but i'm being extra careful considering how paranoid the americans are (!!).
In the DS 156/7/8 forms, have you guys written na/not applicable or none/nil to ish that doesn't apply...
becooz some places it says none/nil is non acceptable whereas some places it says na is not acceptable.
so right now my form looks hella empty, some clarification needed...!

they have given me a 5 years visa. and anokhi write n/a everywhere.

yay, I got my visa today! :D

i wrote nil everywhere, but dont think it matters so much.

People who have got their visas, 4 year or 5 year?

4 year visa, although I wrote on the intended duration of stay 5 years. I guess I'll have to extend it for the OPT.

yaey, got my visa authorized today.
The worst part is waiting in line, the actual interview lasted for less than a minute. daayum, she didn't even ask to see any of my documents (which i spent soo long getting together). No bank statements/scores/letter of admission/assets/blah... just them DS forms and I20. uh huh.

congratulations, anokhi,
yea, going by what i've heard most of the undergrad interviews are like that, so good for us and really you dont want the VO to ask for your documents... its supposed be a bad sign or something!

I had my visa interview jst 2 days back. they didnt ask anything about proof of whether i'll be comin back...all they asked was why that course and what after that... :s

My interview 2 days ago took some minutes because the officer took my materials away for discussion with others... Actually the talk lasted slightly over 1 minute. I'm a bit old, so it's quite unusual for my age to be a freshman in the US, but finally she said: "You can get your visa at Window 1."
