Visiting a Campus

Alright so I'm visiting a campus in 3 days, and I have scheduled meetings with two professors, both from majors that I am very interested in. What should I expect in these meetings? Should I bring lots of questions that I want to ask them, do they normally lead the conversation, what should I talk about? I'm not sure what to expect. Thanks for replying!

do a little research into their curriculum. what courses in the major does one take when and why? ask them to make clear any catalogue course descriptions that are not clear. ask them to talk about how much writing and/or math is required in the courses. ask them what the toughest courses in the major are. ask them about research and internships and departmental scholarships. If they have labs, ask how many u/gs are working in their labs right now. Ask how the h.s. AP courses compare to theirs. Ask how many courses each teaches a semester and how research fits into their teaching. stuff.

I like the idea of asking how AP courses compare - There are many times where it might actually make sense to go ahead and take the class at the school again because what they cover may be quite different. I’d also consider asking them if the faculty as a whole has a particular interest or specialty within the program…(My very bad example is if you are going to school hoping to learn a great deal about human biology and you find out that most of the professors are renowned plant biologists)

Those are both very good ideas. Thanks to you! I will make sure to keep these ideas in mind.
