Visiting Bing, no scheduled tours that day

Will be passing thru Binghamton late Aug and want to check out the school. There are no admissions tours scheduled for that day. Is there any way to see the school by ourselves?

i looked at the campus tours calendar – it looks like the days in late august when there are no tours are the days when new students and then returning students will be moving in. which means things will be more chaotic on campus – including parking.

at the admissions site there is a reference to taking a self-guided tour – [Binghamton University - Undergraduate Admissions - Visit Binghamton](Visit Us | Undergraduate Admissions | Binghamton University) – look all the way on the right, part way down the page. there is a link to a map with suggested points of interest.

but you should first check with the admissions office as to whether parking will be available in what are usually the lots available for prospective students. you may want to avoid the day that new students move in, because things will be the most chaotic that day – returning students filter back over the course of the next few days, so its not as bad as the one day when all the new students are arriving.

if you do go at the end of august, realize that it will be a very atypical time to be seeing the campus – students moving in, but not starting classes yet. also realize that hotels and restaurants right around campus will be busy the days parents are dropping students off.

I would be passing through, not staying over, on either Sun 8/22 or Thurs 8/26. When is move-in day?

move in day is the 26th.
not sure how much you’d be able to see on sunday the 22-- offices closed, no students around. (i don’t know if there would be any types of students, eg. athletes, ra’s, who might be on campus that early.)
i don’t know if any buildings would be open. you’d be best calling admissions and asking if you wanted to do a self guided tour, what would you actually be able to see that day.
is there any way you could visit on the 21st or the 23rd when they have things scheduled?

Sat 21st we’ll be rafting in PA, and couldn’t get to Bing until late aft or early evening. Planning Cornell visit Sun 22nd. Mon 23rd would be RIT in morning, then on to Toronto for Yankees vs. Jays. We’ll be passing Bing on the way home Thurs 26th.
