I’m visiting campus in a couple of weeks and I’d like to try out the food in a dining hall. Do any particular locations have a better selection of vegetarian food? Thanks for any info!

There are only two real dining halls, in Vanier and Totem (upper years need to learn to cook!). Both have a plethora of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options and are roughly the same, I believe there is just one station different between the two.

Vancouver is a haven for vegetarian food, probably the most famous restaurant being The Naam, a 24 hour place that’s great for friends, a date or a very, very late snack. Their nachos are enormous.

YES! I ate at the Vanier dining hall and it was excellent! Well, I just ate pizza but my parents were impressed with the selection. I think they think that if I ever decide to eat real quality food, I would find plenty to eat there. I also visited UW and ate in a dining hall there, and even though the city itself has seemingly thousands of vegetarian and vegan restaurants, the dining hall I visited was small and although it was veg-friendly it didn’t have a lot of options. I wish I had been checking CC while traveling, then I would have known about The Naam - oh well. If I get accepted at UBC maybe I’ll go back for their “accepted student” event, and I can check it out (and other places near campus).
