Admitted students are invited to visit F&M next week to take "A Closer Look" during a daylong event. Do you think it would be better to see the school on a regular day as opposed to a planned program? This is our second visit to F&M and it is one of my top 3 schools to choose from this month.

The accepted students day will give you a better opportunity to learn more about the school, as well as "get a feel" for the potential incoming student body. I know that when my daughter attended similar days three years ago (she is now a junior at Haverford College) the accepted students day helped her to better define her decision. It was much more valuable then our other visits to campuses.

We are in the same boat TwoTimes2 and have heard that these visits are really valuable. We have been told by others that it is at these events that "everything becomes clear." Sure hope so. My D is very stressed with the uncertainty of it all. What are the other schools you are considering?

My daughter is also an "undecided" and is planning to go to next Friday's event at F&M (tho' she'll be flying out on a redeye and won't get there until about Noon from the train from Philly).

She is coming on her own! Wow... That is impressive! She is clearly self-reliant.

All I can say is thank God for cell phones. :-)

But it does look like a fairly straight-forward route, there's a SEPTA (train) right from the Philly airport to the Amtrak station at 30th street (been told it's only a couple of bucks), then she gets on the ~1 hr train trip into Lancaster, which is only $15. I think the train station is a short taxi trip to F&M.

Yes, Irvinemom, it is really easy to get from the airport to the train. The R1(airport line) runs to 30th station Philly every half hour. Then she walks down the ramp to the Amtrak station.

It's a shame that her plane gets in late b/c I am driving from Philly to Lancaster to take my son to A Closer Look (he was accepted ED) I will leave Phila. about 8:30 am. Will her plane be in by then?

PM me if you want to know more.
