I’m a rising senior and will be in the northeast in mid-July. I’ve consistently heard that visiting colleges in the summer is generally not a useful way to get a sense of the school’s actual atmosphere, since the school isn’t really fully in session and is mostly full of high schoolers, etc. However, with Dartmouth’s summer session seemingly being a fully normal term due to the D Plan, would visiting during the summer therefore be just as useful as during the year?
@nac7890 I would think that in Dartmouth’s case you could get a fairly accurate sense of campus as the sophomore class remains for summer term. The college is offering Special Visit Days also this summer which you may find useful, Coffee Mondays and Faculty Fridays.

We visited in the summer, and the only thing I think that turned to be not very accurate was the weather. It was really hot that day, and you won’t experience that very much during the school year (except in your sophomore summer).
